Addressing Problems Of

The recommendation from the court states as follows; Parenting Time Recommendation: *Commencing in June 2010 when the child will be ten months of age and winter weather will have passed, Plaintiff shall be entitled to one full week [7 overnights] every month. With travel in mind perhaps, if circumstances allow, this could be altered to two full weeks every other month when the child becomes somewhat older, maybe as soon as two (years old).... *The parties are to share transportation equally for the parenting time.
First off let me tell you I want nothing more than for my son to have his father in his life. I know how important it is and have expressed that repeatedly. But I can't imagine our son having to travel 900 miles one way then spend weeks alone with someone he's briefly met three times, practically a stranger! We would meet halfway in Indianapolis which makes for a two day trip there and two days back in the car seat for Wilder. This is unrealistic for any child on a monthly basis let alone a ten month old. And if that isn't traumatic enough, the court is requesting that Wilder immediately stop nursing and start on formula. While there are no known risks to me at this time in making that transition, that doesn't justify the decision. I've made the choice along with it the sacrifice to breastfeed Wilder for as long as he and I are both comfortable. For the sole reason that it is the best choice for him, nutritionally and emotionally. The bond he is gaining now its one that will benefit him for the rest of his life. I feel that what is in Wilder's best interest is being threatened. To remove him from his home, his family, and his food source is completely reckless and selfish. And only shows how little the court is concerned and educated on a child's well being. Who's best interest is being served here? Surely there is a gentler way to introduce father to son. A benefit for the Parents for Children Organization is being scheduled and will be announced before the hearing. I would also like to state I am not rallying against Wilders Father, I fully understand his want to be part of his son's life.
